 DAY OF CARING

Bringing people together to build a stronger community, Upper Valley United Way in Partnership with Dartmouth College, Hypertherm, Ledyard national Bank, Timken and Trumbull - Nelson Company, will be holding the first Day of Caring event.  The Day of Caring connects volunteers with local nonprofit organizations to complete projects that may not otherwise get done. Projects can range from taking children on a field trip to adding a fresh coat of paint on the walls of a transitional home. Day of Caring also provides an opportunity to develop long-lasting relationships with colleagues and other community members.

The event will take place from 9:30 am - 1:30 pm.  You will need to have projects for that time range, they can be longer if needed.  We will do our part to make sure volunteers know to bring their own sack lunches.  We will all meet together on the Dartmouth Green for a kick-off breakfast at 8:00 am.  Dr. Kim of Dartmouth will give a talk to start things off.  After the kick-off people will be free to take off to their various volunteer projects for the day.

Whether your project is large or small, Day of caring is an opportunity for you to get things done while enjoying the company of others in your community.  It is also a great way for people to "get the big picture" and experience what your agency contributes to this community.  Don't miss out!

You can request 2-20 volunteers for your job(s) and should plan for 4 hours of work.

Here are a few examples:  Paint a house or a Take a group of kids to a park for a picnic, Move furniture, Cook, do some Fall cleaning, inside and out! Plan an activity for adults. Get Creative and have fun!!!

Join us for Day of Caring, scheduled for October 9, 2010. For more information about participating in Day of Caring contact Alexis Prigge at (603) 448-2766 or alexis@uvuw.org
